CMC Markets account types: Full list and features

Many features, like leverage, can change depending on your location: under FCA, FMA, and ASIC regulations, clients have access to maximum retail leverage up to 30:1, while MAS clients find a 50:1 leverage and IIROC find a 100:1 leverage.

Several features’ availability may also depend on your location or the regulation you’re trading under.

CMC Markets CFD account: Best for leverage traders

  • Availability: Under FCA, BaFIN, ASIC, MAS, FMA, IIROC.
  • Markets: Forex, indices, commodities, treasuries, crypto, shares (13500+ assets in total, though asset availability, may depend on your location). Note that shares are not available on the MT4 platform.
  • Commissions: CMC charges 0.7 pips on forex and a commission from $8 on stocks. When trading CFDs, you will also be charged an overnight fee.
  • Platforms: CMC Markets platform, MetaTrader 4.
  • Trade size: From 1 micro lot.
  • Leverage: Up to 1:30 (ASIC, BaFIN, FMA, FCA), up to 1:34100:1 (IIROC) and up to 1:50 (MAS).
  • Special features: You may be eligible for benefits such as a dedicated relationship manager, cash rebates, spread discount, or a free MT4 VPS.
  • Account opening: The demo version can be opened first with no time limit, then CFD clients don’t need to make a minimum deposit in order to start trading in a live environment.

CMC Markets spread betting account: Best for UK casual traders

  • Availability: Under FCA.
  • Markets: Forex, commodities, indices, treasuries, crypto, shares (12000+ assets in total, though asset availability may depend on your location).
  • Commissions: Spreads start from 0.7 pips on forex, and there’s a commission of $8 on the stock market. When spread betting there’s also the overnight fee.
  • Platforms: CMC Markets platform.
  • Trade size: From 1 micro lot.
  • Leverage: Up to 1:30 on major forex.
  • Special features: No currency conversion fee.
  • Account opening: The demo version can be opened first with no time limit. After that then Spread Betting clients don’t need to make a minimum deposit in order to open a live account.

CMC Markets stockbroking account: Best for real stocks traders

  • Availability: Under ASIC.
  • Markets: Real shares, mutual funds, warrants, ETFs (35,000 shares in total).
  • Commissions: No commissions are charged on US, UK, Canadian and Japanese shares. 11$ (or 0.10% fee) is charged when buying and selling other stocks.
  • Platforms: CMC Markets platform.
  • Trade size: Minimum trade value of $500 AUD for ASX stocks and $1000 AUD for international stocks.
  • Leverage: Not available.
  • Special features: The first trade of the day on Australian shares is commission-free up to the value of $1000.
  • Account opening: CMC does not provide a stocks demo account, but there is no minimum deposit requirement to open a live account.

CMC Markets professional account: Best for pro traders

  • Availability: Under ASIC, BaFIN, FCA, and MAS.
  • Markets: Forex, commodities, indices, treasuries, crypto, shares (12000+ assets in total, though asset availability may depend on your location).
  • Commissions: Spreads start from 0.7 pips and stock commissions start from $8. The Invest Pro platform for professional stock investors requires a $49/month fee.
  • Platforms: CMC Markets platform.
  • Trade size: From 1 micro lot.
  • Leverage: Up to 1:500 on major forex.
  • Special features: Higher leverage; monthly cash rebates.
  • Account opening: You can open a live account with no minimum deposit.

CMC Markets corporate account: Best for retail business trading

  • Availability: Under FCA, BaFIN, ASIC, MAS, FMA, IIROC.
  • Markets: Forex, indices, commodities, treasuries, crypto, shares (13500+ assets in total, though asset availability may depend on your location).
  • Commissions: Spreads and commissions are the same as other CMC Markets accounts with spreads from 0.7 pips and the $8 commission on shares.
  • Platforms: CMC Markets platform.
  • Trade size: From 1 micro lot.
  • Leverage: up to 30:1 (ASIC, FCA), up to 50:1 (MAS), up to 100:1 (IIROC) and up to 500:1 (FMA).
  • Special features: High-level trading tools; cashback rebates depending on your location.
  • Account opening: There is no minimum deposit required to open a CMC corporate account.

What happens to inactive CMC Markets trading accounts?

CMC Markets will charge a monthly fee of $10 or equivalent after a year of inactivity.

The fee will be deducted from the account until the account gets closed by CMC Markets or the balance goes to zero.
